Marilyn Hemenway, 84, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully at her home. Marilyn was born in Gothenburg, NE and was salutatorian of Gothenburg High School in 1957. She was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma sorority and graduated from Hastings College in 1960. She worked for many years as District Manager of corporate taxes for Northwestern Bell/AT&T. Marilyn was an avid Bridge player and in 1993 become an ACBL National Champion. In her later years, she spent time teaching and helping others learn the game she loved.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Sue Ostergard of Gothenburg, NE; Daughter, Gina Ruskamp of West Point, NE; Son, Jeremy (Kim) Hemenway of Cheyenne, WY; brother-in-law, Larry Ostergard of Gothenburg, NE; Grandchildren include, Dylan Ruskamp, Taylor Ruskamp, and Zoey Ruskamp of Dodge, NE and Eliot and Caleb Hemenway of Cheyenne, WY and great grandchild Kassianni Ruskamp of West Point, NE. Marilyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins of Omaha, Lincoln, and Gothenburg, NE.
Marilyn was preceded in death by Laverne and Dorothy Wickstrom of Gothenburg, NE (parents); her sister, Joan Ostergard of Gothenburg, NE (sister); brother-in-law, Don Ostergard of Gothenburg, NE; and son-in-law, Ron Ruskamp of Dodge, NE.
The family plans to honor Marilyn with a Celebration of Life at a later date. Marilyn’s memory may be honored with memorials at gruskamp@msn.com and jandkhemenway@gmail.com.
