HERBSTER, Jerry A. Age 73 Of Elmwood, NE. formerly of Omaha Died in Ericson, NE on October 1, 2016.Jerry was Park Superintendent for the Papio-Missouri NRD for over 25 years and loved the outdoors and interacting with park visitors.A stroke led to his retirement 3 years ago, yet in retirement he was a stroke survivor and not a victim.His friendly, outgoing personality drew people in and allowed him to communicate well, even without words.Rather than having less experiences after the stroke, he expanded his world with more adventures and new friends.A trip to Yellowstone and flying again were among the highlights of his summer.Jerry demonstrated how to embrace life and appreciate each day you get to spend with people you love.His wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes placed in Verdon, NE, where his parents are buried. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
