Applegate, Harvey J.
7/26/1936 - 8/20/2023
Harvey passed away on August 20, 2023. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Michelle and son-in-law Bob; daughter Kim and son-in-law Mike; grandson Ryan, his wife, Jenny and their children Berkley and Caden; grandson Aaron; granddaughter Amber and her children Jaeda and Jack; step grandson Landon, his wife, Amy and their children Brooks, Nolan, Joseph and Charlie.
Harvey served in the United States Air Force after high school. He loved traveling, panning for gold, tractor and car shows and of course spending time with his family.
Harvey loved to tell stories. He always had a way to make you laugh. He loved cars and especially his cars. It was important to him that his girls know how to change a tire before they learned how to drive a car. As you can imagine one of them was excited to do this and jumped right in and changed the tire. The other one said, “No, if she needed a tire changed she would just flag someone down and they could do it”. She proceeded to yell to the neighbor, Tony, to come over and change the tire for her. Dad could only smile at her problem solving skills.
He loved being a grandpa and great grandpa. He would do anything for his grandchildren and they adored him. He loved to tinker and fix things. The grandchildren would break things and we would often say, I am not sure if it can be fixed, ask grandpa. He could find a way to fix just about anything. We could almost always find him in his garage tinkering with something.
Harvey had one true love, and no it was not his tractor. Carol was the love of his life. Those two have been on an adventure for 62 years. They have such great memories of traveling, working together at Braniff, spending time at the farm and the lake, riding snowmobiles, going to car shows, and playing with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. A true love story!
Harvey could light up a room and have people laughing as he told his stories. He will truly be missed!
