Morgan, Yana S. 6/8/1966 - 9/17/2023 Yana Morgan, daughter, sister, mentor, and outstanding friend to all who knew her, left the world a sadder place on September 17, 2023. Yana had many strong passions (and opinions!): among them music (especially jazz and blues,) sports (an avid soccer player,) and a dedication to social and political issues. Born in Amarillo, Texas, Yana enjoyed a “military brat” childhood that included living in five other states and a foreign country before settling in Omaha. Upon graduating from Bellevue East High School, she joined her parents in Connecticut where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. Following her graduation from SCSU, she returned to Omaha and pursued her political passions by aiding Ally Milder’s campaign for the US House of Representatives and then serving on the Washington staff for Senator Chuck Hagel. After finishing her stint in D.C., she returned to Omaha where she joined Weitz Investment company and spent the next 22 years serving as a Certified Financial Planner and Client Services Manager. Along with her successful business career, Yana found time to engage in community outreach efforts where her loving and compassionate qualities helped at-risk youths find pathways to success. She is survived by her parents, Ron and June Hertenstein of Bradenton, Florida; three siblings: Wayne Morgan (Mary) of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda Stinson of Bellevue, Nebraska, Alan Morgan (Karen) of Bellevue, Nebraska; two step brothers: Dale Hertenstein of Beavercreek, Ohio, Rob Hertenstein (Angela) of Birmingham, Alabama: and godson Travis Green (Monica) and grandchild (Jayden) of Deerfield Beach, Florida. She also had nine nieces and nephews. Yana was a genuinely beautiful person, inside and out, who will live forever in the hearts of her family and the many friends she loved and treasured. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church (7020 Cass St, Omaha} on Thursday, October 5th at 2:00 PM. You are welcome to join with us at an informal gathering preceding the service from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on Yana’s behalf to Girls, Inc. Braman Mortuary - 72 St. Chapel 1702 N. 72 St. Omaha, NE 68114 402-391-2171
