On Monday, January 5, 1942, William K. "Bill" Doakes graced this earth with his loving presence. Born to Adeline McIntosh and Lloyd Doakes.. He crossed over to the great divide on February 11, 2025, at the age of 83 in Omaha Nebraska.
Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma he also spent his early formative years ratherish in Southern California. William also known as Bill to his dear family and friends, had various jobs throughout his life. He worked for Glover Valve in South Omaha, as a security guard for Northwestern Bell in downtown Omaha and retired from Griffin Pipe in Council Bluffs Iowa in 2008.
Bill had an abundance of friends and family during his lifetime he would always lend a helping hand to. Bill always thought of other people, and it was tremendously important to him to treat others the way he would want to be treated.
As a child and into my adulthood I have fond memories of his many acts of generosity and kindness. From buying gasoline for a stranger to hosting his family in Omaha multiple times for family reunions. Ensuring neighbors had all they needed from the grocery store to spending quality time with family and friends whose health was on the decline. Bill made an impact on people no matter where he was. A bountifulness of compliments from individuals telling me their stories about my father and how he made them feel special is a legacy that I am forever gratified for.
William Doakes is survived by his beautiful mother Adeline McIntosh, Gorgeous sisters, Lurene Vann, Beverly McIntosh, Pauline McIntosh, & BettyAnn McIntosh. Handsome brothers Clarence McIntosh, Kenneth Doakes, and Paul Doakes. Uniquely Devine daughters. Antoinette, Tonda, and LaCoda. Special mention to his exceptional cousin Gwen McMullen. A voluminous family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that were treated just like family. Please know he loved you all very much.
