Wayne Bruce Valish February 9, 1948- February 22, 2020 Wayne Bruce Valish, 72 of Lincoln, passed away Saturday, February 22, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. Wayne was born February 9, 1948 at Columbus St. Mary’s Hospital to Jerry and Idella Mae Valish. He grew up on the family farm north of Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler Central High School in 1966. Wayne served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid.He served from December 1967 and was honorably discharged in August 1973.He received The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Navy Unit.Commendation Ribbon. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Idella Mae Valish and brother Jerry Valish Jr. He is survived by his sister Deanna Holthus of Beatrice, sister Beverly (Geoffrey) Berglund of Ft Lauderdale, Florida, daughter Dawn (Rodney) Zulkoski of Grand Island, daughter Darlyn (Kevin) Christensen of Columbus, son Dean (Jodie) Valish of Lincoln, son Dana (Deeanna) Valish of Lincoln, 9 grandchildren and one great grandchild Graveside Service: Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE with Military Honors.
