He would share his many memories with us of his time overseas and carried his military Id his whole life. He continued to serve in Army reserves in Washington state. He married the love of his life that he met at a dance in the next town. They were married on June 21, 1957. They enjoyed deer & pheasant hunting together along with fishing, deep sea fishing, camping, bowling leagues, playing card’s. They enjoyed spending time with each other and their families. They have many nephew’s and niece’s that they were close to. Family meant everything to him and mom. He worked at Boeing aircraft as well heavy time in construction with heavy equipment. He would later work for Firestone Tire’s as a mechanic and service manager. Later on life he went mechanic school to work on Semi truck’s spending over 30 yrs with Firestone before retiring. He had continued to work to provide health insurance for mom while he helped through cancer. While working in early year’s of Firestone he and mom adopted us three girl’s from Nebraska Children’s Home. We all spent time with camping, fishing, board game’s, boating, playing card’s and our family dinner to Godfathers pizza. Dad would help us homework and about car’s and basketball. Sometimes us girl’s would spend a Saturday with him at work. If we had a problem we could go to dad. He taught us to be responsible, respectful and work hard and set the example for us as well mom did too. Our family grew as my sister’s and I had children and he loved being a grandpa. He was so proud of his grandchildren and his great grandchildren and then blessed with great great children. He enjoyed having everyone who come out on weekends and holiday’s & birthday’s were always busy at his house. One of our favorites was the Fourth of July with all cookout’s and fireworks. When mom passed away they were married 52 year’s. He missed her greatly as she is his one true love. He would move forward as hard as it was and focus on us girl’s and grandchildren. He enjoyed craftsmanship and wood working and leather workmanship. He help make displays for my craft show’s and loved being apart of them. He has a great love for dog’s and having many throughout his lifetime. Although he had some illnesses he kept going and enjoyed helping his neighbors and his neighbors always helping him. He will be greatly missed. He accepted Jesus as his savior and now he s with the Lord and mom.
