Violet was born in Cardiff Wales the youngest child of Florence and Henry Bullen. Violet’s younger years were during the end of World War II (bomb shelters, rations, and playing with her brothers at the docks) but despite war time Violet had good memories of her youth. Upon graduation from high school, Violet attended nursing school in England and in 1957 met and married Sergeant Claude Hampton (Air Force) at a dance for the American GI’s. In 1959 Violet and Claude welcomed son Claude Jr. Violet and Claude were transferred to 6 different bases in England and the USA throughout the 20 years in the Air Force. In 1972 they received their final transfer to Offutt Airforce Base in Omaha, NE. In 1976 the family was surprised with the arrival of a baby girl - Ceridwen Madalyn. (Claude got a sister instead of a car). During Violet’s life in Omaha she learned how to drive, worked for Nashua, Henry Doorly Zoo, St. Richards Catholic Church, and retired from Servants of Mary Convent. Violet spent her retirement enjoying her children, grandchildren, and welcoming great-grandchildren. Violet was an incredible baker and cook, best known for her curry and chocolate cake. She read the paper every day, watched her British shows, Hallmark movies and lots of sports on TV.Violet especially loved watching college football and baseball. She knew which players and coaches were good (and bad) and would spend day after day watching game after game; yelling loudly in her British accent at the TV, as though they could hear her, with a wine glass in her hand.
