Starr, Viola M. 10/10/1930 – 10/18/2020 ViolaMarie Starr, born to Emmet Hodge and Mrytle Hill in Muskogee County, OK. She was preceded in death by Myrtle Hill, Donald Taylor(son), Debra Breckenridge (daughter), Louis Hill Sr(brother) and Michaela Starr(granddaughter). She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters:Brenda Taylor (Aurora, CO) Cynthia Williams, Cheryl Haygood, Renee Starr, Christi Starr and Dedhra Starr all of Omaha.Sons: Byron Starr (Chris) and Robert Starr of Hastings, NE and Steven Starr of California. Viola lived in Hastings, NE where all eleven of her children were born.While in Hastings she continued her passion to design by becoming the first Black Floral Designer in Hastings.Later she won an award for the best arrangement and later moved to Omaha to open her own Floral Shop.She went on towork at The OmahaBlack Museum, Every Woman Matters, Urban League and Boys Town. Viola was noted to be an inspiration to many people; she always had an idea of how to get things done. “ Take what you got and Make what you want” was her motto.She loved sharing her wisdom, a big smile as she rocked her stylish hats with matching purses and shoes.She was part of the”Last Hot Mama’s & Papa’s club”, She will be missed by her children, grandchildren ,great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
