PIGNOTTI, Viola F. 7/24/1926 – 7/13/2021 Viola was born on July 24, 1926, in Omaha, NE to Augusta and Carl Johnson. She would have been 95 in 5 days. She grew up and remained in Omaha where she met Joseph Pignotti. After a whirlwind romance they married in 1942 and had 7 children, they raised primarily in the Benson area. Sadly, after only 22 years of marriage Joseph passed away at the age of 40 leaving Viola to raise the children on her own. Being a strong-willed Swedish woman like her mother before her, Viola sacrificed, worked, and provided for the children she loved on her own. Viola continued to care for her youngest daughter Cindy until recently. Viola worked at North High School and the New Castle Living Center but was notably known for the crafts and crocheting she made which she sold and gave as gifts to friends and family over the years. She also taught choir here at Immanuel Lutheran Church when asked by the pastor to help. She loved games. Everything from card games, board games, and slot machines but also continued to love doing her crafts, drawing, and painting. She loved strawberry shakes. Some of Viola’s fondest memories were fishing with her husband Joseph and going with her sisters Gina and Norrie to Krug Park, at 52nd & Maple St.. She would reminisce about riding the roller coaster, other rides of the time, and swimming at the park. Viola always wanted to be an artist. She would have made a great one if she would have put a single drop of her heart and soul on the canvas. She loved the holidays with Christmas being number one. She particularly loved one game at Christmas time, a large spinning wheel, with the family circled around it, that determined what present you “won” or drew from a pile of gifts, you could lose it, keep it, exchange it or take someone else’s. Viola always loved her family, big and small, loved attending weddings, and loved seeing the new addition to the family tree. Her soul was full of love and always wanted to be around family, friends, and people with a good sense of humor. She lived a good and full life. She has now joined her husband Joseph and they will be together forever. She was loved and will be missed. Viola was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Pignotti; She is survived by her Sons: Ron, Joe, Gary (Karen), Steve (Patricia) Pignotti; Daughters: Chris (Loren) Hansen, Carol Landstrom, Cindy Pignotti; Many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
