JOHNSON, Jr. Vernon William "Bill" 9/26/1938 - 6/11/2022 Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran, Gideons International member and avid sports fan. He loved the Huskers, Creighton basketball, KC Royals, College World Series and especially watching his kids and grandkids activities. He loved to travel, with his favorite places being Michigan and Oregon. He had quite a musical talent in both singing and playing the trumpet. He passed the love of singing along to his daughters. People would often describe him as a kind, quiet man, who always listened to others and loved to help. Above everything else, he was a devoted husband, father and loved the Lord. Proceeded in death by parents Vernon & June, sister Marge Bedlan; Survived by his wife of 60 years, Joni; Daughters: Michelle (Marc) Schopp, Amy (Brian) McDonnell, Kristi (Alan) Johnston, Melissa Karloff; Sister Colleen Wiedel; 10 Grandchildren: Bethanie, Meghan (Max), Corey, Wesley, Connor, Emma, Morgan, Grace, Abbey and Brady; 6 Great Grandchildren; Many other relatives and friends. Born in Alexandria, Nebraska on September 26, 1938 to Vernon and June Johnson. He graduated from Bruning High School and earned his Bachelors degree from Dana College in Blair where he met the love of his life, Joni. Bill and Joni married in Omaha on Dec. 28, 1961, and moved to Stuttgart, Germany, where Bill was stationed in the Army. Upon returning to Omaha in 1964, Bill began his career with Northwestern Bell. He then worked at Tenaska for 24 years until he retired in 2020. CELEBRATION OF BILL'S LIFE: Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 2:00pm, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service, all at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel) Interment at a later date will be at the Omaha National Cemetery Memorials can be directed to The Gideons International, https://gideons.org/donate or mail to The Gideons International Processing Center, P.O.
