Tonya Venita Burke
November 1, 1957- July 3, 2022

Tonya was born November 1, 1957 in Phoenix, AZ to George and Mary (Moore) Holt. Early in her life she traveled with her family from Phoenix to Tripoli, Libya while her father served in the U.S.A.F. The family was the stationed at Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE where she lived the rest of her life. At an early age Tonya loved to read and write poetry and short stories. Later in her life she fulfilled one of her dreams by writing a childrens’ book, Children’s Seasons of Delight. Tonya’s love for children was one of her greatest joys in life, she would make music CDs for them. She also ran a daycare for a short time. Tonya enjoyed all types of music, especially country music which she fondly recalled listening to with her mother. Tonya loved her family she would often reminisce about her sibling’s antics. Tonya had an infectious laugh that encouraged everyone to join in. Tonya’s heart was massive, always looking for ways to help others. She spent 34 yrs. working at Encor/Duet where she enhanced many lives with the care she provided her clients. Tonya loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Tonya was strong in her faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, witnessing to others with words of faith and encouragement by studying the bible with them. Tonya wanted everyone to come to love Jehovah as much as she did. She believed in the resurrection hope where our loved ones will be brought back to life. Tonya could’ve been called a philanthropist, a businesswoman, a friend, a sister, and so much more; she always had a new idea for a business venture just about every time you would talk to her on the phone. She was just like her mother when she came up with hair growth products, diabetes formulas and other natural remedies for herself and anyone who would benefit from her products. Tonya will be truly missed by all.
Tonya was preceded in death by parents George and Mary Holt; In-laws Jerry and Onetha Burke; Brothers David Johnson, George (Frank) Holt and brother in-law Mark Burke. Tonya was survived by husband of 23 years Tyrone Burke. Children: Brooklyn (daughter), Timesha Burke (step-daughter), Marvin Jordan Jr., and Daniel (Zoar) Jordan. Four grandsons: Malachi Davis, Jaden, Josiah, Caleb. Brothers: Ruffin (Joyella) Johnson, Dana (Kelly) Holt, Kelvin (Cassie) Holt, Randy (Talicia) Holt, and Kalan Holt. Sisters: Sheila (Jeffery) Harrington, Karen (Brian) Turner. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
