Sloboth, Tom A. December 7, 1924 – February 1, 2021 Age 96, Died Feb. 1, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. Preceded in death by parents, Tony and Mary; brothers Dan and John; sisters: Mary, Betty, Virginia and Sally and Irish Setter, Kayley. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Ruth; children: Cathy (Jim) Sleezer, Tom Jr., Carol (Floyd) Prine, Christine(Dan); grandchildren: Rob (Sandra) Sleezer, Drew (Anya) Sleezer, Teresa (Brian) Zimmerman, Debbie (Harry) Coleman, Jenifer and Michael, Christopher (Cheryl) Prine, Alex (Maddi) Prine, Jackie (Tommy) Kesterson; Eight great-grandchildren; special nephew, John Jr. (Julie), sisters-in-law Barbara and Anna (Mike)Sheridan, brother-in-law Dr. Bob Burns, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Tom cherished time spent with his family and truly loved life. He loved to share a beer with Ruth while they bet on football games, played computer Hearts and listened to music. Tom was a proud WWII Veteran (USMC). He learned to fly in the Marines and being a pilot was a lifelong passion. He spent many happy hours at his hangar in Mo. Valley, IA. He also loved and raced cars, motorcycles and the “Awful Awful” drag boat. Tom loved visits from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He treasured time spent with his nephew John, going to swap meets, eating out and working on projects. He also loved dogs, church festivals, fish frys, driveway parties and chocolate donuts. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date when it can be done safely with those who knew and loved him.
