Timmy Robert Slater

December 15, 1956 — September 5, 2020

Timmy Robert Slater Born: December 15, 1956 Passed Away: September 5, 2020 Tim was born at the Holdrege Memorial Hospital on December 15, 1956 and grew up on a farm in Southwest Nebraska south of Eustis. He attended a one room country school until the second grade with his brothers: Gordon, Ronnie, and Dick. His parents, Floyd and Edith, then moved to Elwood in October 1966; where he finished high school. Growing up, he was always playing basketball in the driveway; baseball and football in the back yard. There were a lot of good times when he went camping, fishing and hunting with his brothers, whenever they got the chance. It was always fun to spend a few days camping on the riverbank, regardless of the weather. He is remembered fondly by his nephews and nieces for playing with them and trading baseball\football cards. After graduation from high school, he attended the vocational school in Grand Island. He lived and worked in Grand Island for several years before moving to Omaha. He met and married Waunita and adopted her 3 children Melissa, Eric and Lisa. He helped raise and assist them in life and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow. His longtime friends knew him to be honest and hard worker. Tim enjoyed having meals with his friends at various cafes and restaurants around Omaha and, of course, went hunting and fishing with them whenever he could. The last few years he found time to mentor Bryce, a young man (as Tim called him). They spent good times together and Tim became very proud of Bryce. Tim always had time to “stop and visit” and “stay in touch” with relatives and friends, both close and distant. Tim was a long-time member of St Paul United Methodist Church. He was baptized and believes in Jesus Christ and life everlasting. He definitely did not have the most money in the world, but it is hard to find someone who loved and shared as much as he. Please, remember Timmy Robert Slater as a life well lived.
