Thomas “Tom” Achilles, 62, of Omaha, Nebraska, originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away at home, Tuesday, February 18th after a long illness.
Tom was born March 27, 1962 to Kenneth & Sharyl (Herington) Achilles in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he attended Kennedy High School. He later attended Mid America Nazarene College in Olathe, Kansas.
On May 15, 1997 he married Diane Thomas. They moved to Omaha in July 1998. Tom was a master gardener and handyman. He started his own business, Tom the Toolman, and operated it until his retirement in 2019.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Elizabeth (Rob) Cooley of Kearney, Nebraska, grandchildren BreAnna, Aiden, Madelyn and Carter. Parents Ken and Sharyl Achilles, sister Mary Hawkins, nephew Andy Lesieur all of Cedar Rapids and nephew Dan (Ashley) Lesieur of Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Keith and Verona Herington and Nola Richards.
Tom will be remembered for his love of life, his generous heart, creative genius and his wild sense of humor. A celebration of life will be held 10:30 am Thursday, February 27th at Flatland Church in Omaha. If you like, you are welcome to wear something teal or purple, his favorite colors, in his honor.
