Thalia Ellen Alberts

November 27, 1944 — December 10, 2024

Thalia Ellen Alberts was born on November 27th, 1944 to Thealtus Alberts and Mildred Redman. She died on December 10th 2024 at eighty years old in Omaha, NE. She is survived by her nephew Tocha Alberts and sister-in-law Yan Kong. She is pre-deceased by her brothers Eric and Douglas. She was a world traveler and served as a teacher and mentor as Director of International Programs at Creighton University and ESL Instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. For more than 40 years, she dedicated her life to the education and betterment of thousands of students. She approached her work with profound commitment—not simply to academics, but to fostering understanding, confidence, and a belief in the potential of every student she taught. Thalia had a gift for seeing others—truly seeing them—and for helping them see their own worth in return. Her influence reached far beyond the classroom, shaping not only the minds of those she taught but also their character and self-assurance. It was this dedication to quality, care, and purpose that left an indelible mark on all the programs she participated in and helped shape. Thalia was a woman who preferred to remain in the background—a gentle presence rather than the center of attention. Yet her impact was monumental. Whether through a quiet word of encouragement, her thoughtful contributions in meetings, or the way she worked tirelessly behind the scenes, her influence permeated everything she touched. Her quirky sense of humor often revealed itself at just the right moment, reminding us of her wit and humanity. Thalia saw the reality of the world and its challenges and found joy and beauty in all that was good and gave hope. Thalia gave selflessly to her work and to the people around her, leaving each of us better for having known her. In addition to her dedication to education, Thalia’s heart extended to her love for animals, particularly the cats she cared for with such devotion. She spent countless volunteer hours at local animal shelters, offering comfort and care to sick, elderly, and injured animals in need. As a foster mom to many of these feline friends, she opened her heart and home, providing not only shelter but love to creatures who needed it most. This work was a reflection of who Thalia was—someone who saw the overlooked, gave her time and energy quietly, and made the world a gentler, kinder place for those in her care.
