Terry Lee was born in Orange City, Iowa on July 22, 1948, to John William and LaVonne Ruth (Vande Berg) Van Surksum. He attended Western Christian High School in Hull Iowa and later joined the Army National Guard. He married Mary Jean Bouma on November 6, 1970, in Boyden Iowa. They made their home in Sheldon Iowa, Red Wing Minnesota and Omaha Nebraska. Mary passed away on January 28, 2019. Terry was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. He loved talking to people. He was an Optical Salesman and made many friends with his customers and fellow salesman.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his father- in law and mother-in-law, Roy and Geraldine Bouma, brother-in-law David Huisman and nephew Timothy Huisman. He is survived by sons: Scott, Jason L. (Kara); grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Cody) Christiansen, Zachary, Trenton; brothers: Roger (Mary Ann), Gary (Lynn); sister Sharon (Steven) Slater; sister-in-law Audrey Huisman; many other relatives and friends.
VISITATION; Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023 from 5-7:00pm at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel)
CELEBRATION OF TERRY'S LIFE: Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023 at 10:30am at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (7706 S 96th St. LaVista, NE). It was Terry's request that you dress casually for the service.
