Suzanne T. Newsome "Sue"

Suzanne Newsome of Red Oak, IA, peacefully passed away on August 7, 2024, in the presence of family.
Suzanne was born on March 23, 1949, in Kimball, NE, to Peter and Jessie Thomsen. She attended primary school in Hastings and completed her bachelor's degree in speech pathology at University of Nebraska in Omaha and later received her master's degree from Creighton University allowing her to serve as a hospice chaplain.
Suzanne lived in Hastings, NE, when she met Carl A. Newsome. After a brief courtship, they moved to Omaha, NE, married April 18, 1970 and had three children, Matthew (1970), Jennifer (1974), and Andrew (1975).
In Omaha, Suzanne spent many years caring for her parents, and later worked as a bookkeeper at Morning Star Pre-School. Additionally, she worked in the greenhouse at the Yard Company and taught basket weaving classes in her home.
In 2000, Suzanne and Carl moved to Emerson, IA, where Suzanne spent her spare time gardening, crafting, quilting, and volunteering at the local church. In 2020, Suzanne and Carl moved to Red Oak, IA.
Suzanne was predeceased by her parents, Jessie and Peter, her husband of 53 years, Carl Newsome, sons Andrew and Matthew, and by three sisters Katrina Nuland, Margit Haberman, and Marie Hesser. She is survived by one sister, Ingrid Peake, and by her daughter Jennifer Newsome, three grandchildren, Taylor Newsome (Heather), Elliott Hoffman, Gavin Newsome (Lily), and two great grandchildren, Hudson John Newsome and Valerie "Valley" Rayne Newsome.
