Cote, Susan Ann
8/30/1946 - 5/1/2024
Our beloved mother and wife Susie lost her battle against lung cancer and its complications on May 1, 2024. She fought hard with grace and strength that amazed us.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Louis and Ruth Urzendowski. She is survived by husband, Roger Cote’ of 54 years, daughters, Shelly Welch (Mike) and Terra Burroughs, grandchildren Justin Topacio (Ashley), Josh Topacio, and Michael Welch (Kelly) and great-grandchildren Hailey Welch, Quinn Welch, Dakota Calbert and Ayden Calbert.
She grew up a South Omaha girl, right on top of “Polish Hill”. After graduating high-school she went to Cosmetology school. She worked as a cosmetologist until “retirement”. Retirement didn’t last long as she was going stir crazy and ended up working at Infinity Omaha for the last 16 years. It became a running joke when every year she talked about that being the year she officially retired.
She loved traveling and getting to do new experiences. She loved being in the mountains where you were likely to see her instructing Roger on which rocks she wanted loaded up in the trunk to take home to add to her rock garden. Her last big trips were with Shelly and Mike to Italy where she could be seen dancing with the restaurant wait staff in downtown Florence and a trip to Hawaii with her girls, Shelly and Terra where they got to experience a hurricane and catch the last flight out of Maui.
She was a ferocious reader and big foodie. She loved going out to eat with her family and her regular dinners with her girlfriends. If they had a good margarita, chances were she would be back.
She had more energy than most people half her age. She walked her dog Lucy every morning rain, sleet, cold, snow or hot weather. She took Zumba classes 3 days a week! She was always on the move, especially in her little electric car that she loved.
She had such a joy for life and gave off an aura that attracted people. Rarely could you go anywhere where she either was having conversations with complete strangers or people telling us how much they
loved her. She modeled the way to living a full happy life. She is leaving a huge void in this world as there will never be another like her.
Per her wishes she did not want to have a service or gathering as she never wanted to be the center of attention.
