Stephen (Steve) Leeder was born on January 10th, 1947 to John and Betty Leeder. The eldest of two children, Steve attended and graduated from Benson High School where he played trombone in the Benson High School “Marching 100.” Steve served his country in the Army from January 1966 to January 1968. After serving in the military, he held many jobs including working with computers, a cook, a bookstore, wedding photography, and a convenient store clerk. He loved his Diet Coke, bottled water, and a good cheeseburger. Steve loved his Mom’s macaroni salad and would often tell people it wasn’t very good so he could have more to himself. He also loved his mother-in-law’s cooking; especially her pies. Steve loved to read, listen to all different kinds of music and news programs. Steve loved to talk scripture with anyone that would listen. Before he lost his sight, he loved to be behind the camera. For him, photography was more than a hobby. He even had some of his pictures published. He collected pens and, Heaven forbid, you use one of them. If you borrowed a book, you had better be sure that none of the corners of the pages were bent. Steve loved his family and mine. He enjoyed his time with the little ones. I can’t begin to tell you the joy he felt in his heart when friends and family visited him in the hospital and at home. Steve is best remembered for his constant humor and practical jokes. Some of his more memorable bits include “walking on the sun” and making faces with his dentures. Steve’s favorite quote when someone would interrupt him was, “Excuse me, I couldn’t hear you. I was talking.” Although Steve stated many times he would like to be put in a trash bag and left on the corner when his time came, his family has planned a celebration of his life that will take place at 11am on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 at Underwood Hills Presbyterian Church. We shared many happy memories together; too many to mention here. I will miss him dearly. Until we meet again my love… I love you. Steve was preceded in death by parents, John & Betty, daughter Carrie Leeder; He is survived by his Wife Bunny; Daughter Shellie; Grandchildren: MacKenzie, Skylar, Liam; Sister Marcia; Many other relatives and friends.
