Stella B. Scaife (Bob) was born in Marvell, Arkansas on July 12, 1935 to Willie and Emma McGhee. She was the fifth of eight children. Stella was the namesake of her grandmother Stella. Stella met and married Curtis W. Scaife and from that union thirteen children were birthed. Stella and Curtis relocated to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked as a bookkeeper at their then family business. Stella also worked a daycare center and American Linen before retiring. Stella accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church until her health would no longer allow her to. Stella was a God fearing woman that loved her family and friends. “Bob” as her family affectionately called her, would give anyone her last dollar down to the pennies in her “locked closet”. She opened her door to family, friends and friends of friends. Stella would nourish their souls with her famous cornbread dressing, greens, and sweet potato pies. Stella was a soft spoken woman but her smile would light up any room. Stella loved reading her bible, listening to gospel music, and shopping at JcPenney. Stella also loved watching her daily soap operas and The Price is Right all while watching the traffic out of her infamous living room window. Stella was the Matriarch of the family she was preceded in death by her parents Emma and Willie McGhee. Her children Martha, Sherry, Curtis Jr and Bobbie Randle . All seven of her siblings Rosa Lee Reeves, Willie Lee, Johnnie Mae, Curtis L. (Curt), Curtis W. (Bae Bae), Johnny (Double) and Jeremiah McGhee. Her grandchildren Jeremaine and Marketta Scaife and Tony Herron. Great grandchildren Eniyah Mease, Asia Swan, Crystalee and Justin Jr Scaife. and Steve Titsworth. Great great grandchild Melody Jones. Stella leaves to cherish her memories her children Diane Scaife, Patricia Soto, Willie (Larry) Scaife, Judy Smith (Bobby), Sharon Scaife, Caroline Ward (Hoyt), Darlene Herron (Tony), Brenda Houessou, Lewis (Terrell) Scaife (Tracy), Larry (Ray) Scaife (Adrian). 51 grandchildren and an abundance of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Celebration of Stella's Life: Wednesday, December 11, at 11 am, with visitation from 10-11 am, all at Braman Mortuary 72nd St. Chapel, 1702 N. 72nd St., Omaha, NE
