July 25, 1937 — November 23, 2020

HOLDORF, Sonja Rae 7/25/1937 – 11/23/2020 Preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Alice Hollestelle Survived by husband Arthur Holdorf; Children: Kevin (Dawn), Kurt (Kathy), Kregg (Lisa), Keri (Terry) Novacek; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Gwen Hollestelle; brother, Clifford Hollestelle (Marcia); many other relatives and friends. Sonja Holdorf thought she was ordinary, but to anyone who knew her she was quite extraordinary. She was a fierce defender, empathizer, hostess, cheerleader, problem solver, baker, listener and a competitive card player to name a few. Sonja had a gift for making each person feel loved and valued. Her traits will live on through each person who was lucky enough to be loved by her. She was married to Art Holdorf for sixty-three years. She took great care of him and together they were an example of how to love each other through better or worse. They were two very different people who together made one amazing couple! Sonja was a beloved sister who always supported her siblings. She loved to make special treats that would remind them of their years growing up together. One of her greatest joys in life was being a mother. She supported her children in everything and encouraged them to follow their dreams. She was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Being a grandmother was special to her. She was intentional on creating memories, making holidays special and creating a place they could call home. She attended as many activities as she could and was very proud of each of her grandchildren. She cherished her great grandchildren and loved to meet them for the first time. She loved to see them grow and watch their personality’s blossom. Sonja valued her friendships. She enjoyed time together, phone calls, lunches, shopping trips and finding the perfect gifts for her friends. Memories were vastly important to her. Making memories brought her joy and reminding others of those memories kept her relationships strong. Her faith and love for her family and friends made her extraordinary. We will treasure every memory we have had with her as we strive to love as she loved.
