Quotes from her husband, children and grandchildren.
* She taught me to:
sew, stitch, crochet, quilt, and craft.
play poker and dominoes, keno, cards and lots of other games.
clean, cook, and care for my family.
travel whenever I could.
enjoy scary movies.
escape through reading, enjoy crime novels
be competitive and love sports.
* She cared about:
how I was doing.
my job.
the health of my family.
how I was doing in school.
all her grandkids.
* She always:
was proud of me, happy for me and shared her love.
took us to movies on Wednesdays.
welcomed me on my summer visit.
told me about what she read in the Star Magazine.
was loved as a mother-in-law.
gathered with families for the holidays and made sure everyone had a gift.
loved to talk (a lot).
welcomed my call.
* She traveled to:
Outer Banks – her favorite trip.
Hawaii and Alaska
Canada
Minnesota – couldn’t miss the Turtle races.
Progresso & Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
South Padre Island (10 years snowbirds)
Nashville, Branson and San Antonio
French Lick
And many other places.
* Things I never knew:
why her hair didn’t turn gray.
when she was bluffing at cards.
Shirley was giving, generous, thoughtful, loving and kind, but also to the point and sometimes sassy.
Forever in our hearts.
