Shawn Craig Gosnell

Shawn Craig Gosnell of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. He was 54 years old. Shawn had a long battle with cancer. In 1988, at the age of 20, he was diagnosed with a Synovial Sarcoma tumor on his right thigh. After chemotherapy and surgery, the tumor was removed, then radiation, and for 33 years, he was cancer-free. In late July of 2021, Shawn had trouble breathing at work. Shawn was diagnosed with Stage Four Synovial Sarcoma cancer, with masses on his lung, bones, and lymph nodes. The treatment plan was chemotherapy which started on September 17, 2021. Unfortunately, this treatment was not successful. In early July 2022, Shawn and Julie decided to stop all treatments. Shawn was born on February 19, 1968. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Maryanne Gosnell. He is survived by his wife Julie; siblings Steve, Sandy, Scott, James Gosnell; nephew Corey Gosnell; and many other relatives and friends. Shawn graduated from Omaha Benson High School in 1986 and went right to work. He was a jack of all trades. He worked for Mid-Plains Insulation, Tractor Supply, Firehouse Subs-Kansas City, Epply Air Field, Custom Concrete Coating, Martin Marietta Materials Rock Quarry, and Boys Town in the paint division. He also had his own wallpaper and painting company. Shawn loved to golf, paint, travel, betting horses, punching slot machines, and chasing those powerball tickets. Shawn met his wife Julie, in May of 2014 and they were married August 8, 2021. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
