Sharon A. Swingholm

March 9, 1947 — December 15, 2024

Sharon Swingholm was born as Sharon Ann Mauch on March 9th, 1947, to Norbert and Rilla Mauch. She was born in the small town of Hankinson North Dakota. Sharon is the third child of seven children; two older sisters, two younger sisters, and two younger brothers. The adorable, freckle faced, blonde-haired child was given the nickname of ‘Butch’ due to her short hair and slender build.

The family moved to Omaha in 1961 when Sharon was 14. She attended what was at the time Beveridge High School, which is now a middle school. She graduated in 1965 at 18 years old. She started her first job when she was 15 at Western Electric, where she worked her entire career, for over 40 years. The company changed its name several times, it was Connectivity Solutions when she retired at 55.

She met John Swingholm in 1966 when she was 19 at Todd’s Drive-in on Dodge Street. They fell in love instantly. They were married on April 13, 1967. Then along came their daughter, Julie Marie. Julie is their only child.

John tragically passed away on May 12th, 1979, from a motorcycle accident. Sharon had lost the love of her life and was now a single mother. She was a strong woman and a great mother to Julie.

Then she met Jack Bauer. He lived across the street, and they became friends and eventually fell in love. She was happy and in love again. They enjoyed many years together spending time at a cabin that they had built on the Platte River in 1986.

Jack passed away on July 13, 2012. Sharon has lost the second love of her life. She was resilient and embraced her family and with the support of her daughter, son-in-law and especially her grandchildren she was able to live a happy life.

Sharon Swingholm passed away on December 15th, 2024. She passed at home in her sleep, just as she had wished. She was preceded in death by her husband John B Swingholm, her fiancé Jack Bauer, and her great grandson Orson Ochoa. She is survived by her daughter Julie and her husband Todd; grandchildren Ashley Masek, Stephanie Ludwick, Chelsea Ludwick, and John Ludwick and his wife Stacey; great grandchildren Lylah and Sylvia Leapley, Zoey and Phoebe Ludwick. As well as many other relatives and friends.
