Sharon Lee Staal

STAAL, Sharon L. (Greenough) Sharon was born on July 4, 1941 in Long Pine, NE. She left for heaven on March 22nd, 2020. Sharon was a natural born caregiver.It started when she taught her brother Rick how to tie his shoes and tell time.It was the beginning of her working career which was helping to raise a young girl for 15 years and being a caregiver to an older couple, she continued doing that type of work her entire working life.She was always kind, willing to help and did her best to be a good sister, aunt and great aunt and maintain some very special friendships.She enjoyed the family holidays and birthday gatherings. Thanksgiving and Christmas where she would always remind Hazel about her birthday ......One year a part! Sharon loved to travel.She went to he Holy Lands, Hawaii, Washington D.C., a sister trip to South Dakota and she joined her family on a special cruise to the Virgin Islands.There were also many trips with her close friend Lorraine, like Branson, MO. Lorraine shared with us some of the things they did together like; Riding a tandem bike in Central Park, dancing, going on river cruises on the paddle boat the Bellevue Star, fish fries, parades downtown, humane society visits and paddle boating at Louisville Lakes just some of many things she so enjoyed.Our family thanks Lorraine for being such a close and good friend to Sharon. Sharon was fastidious about getting her hair done each week and attending church.Church was very important to her.She sang in the church choir, watered the church plants and anything else she could do to help.On her monthly grocery trips which were carefully planned one of her delights was using gift cards she had received from family at the Walgreens across the street.It was like getting something for free! Sharon was never angry.She never understood how someone could be mean.It was not in her DNA.She preferred to remember only the good things, maybe a poem from her high school days, or a song lyric from long ago. Going to lunch with her grandma and roller skating at the airport. That is something we can all learn from and admire about Sharon,she was never bitter and always looked for the good in people.She will be missed. Sharon is remembered by her siblings Cyd (Bill) Miller, Hazel Platt, Linda Little, Bill (Sandy) Little, Margie Biltoft, and Rick (Nadine) Little. So dear Sharon, sing to the Lord, until we can all sing to the Lord together. A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Omaha at a later date.
