Sharlene A. Hearn

February 19, 1935 — January 16, 2025

Sharlene Ann Hearn, aged 89, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by her loving family. Sharlene was a devoted wife and mother, a cherished grandmother, and genuine friend to many.

Sharlene was born on February 19, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Rose Rasmussen and Ray Cameron. She grew up as an only child and could often be found playing outside with her chow dog, Ching. Sharlene loved the time she spent out on the family ranch outside Bassett, NE, riding horses and playing pranks on her cousins. Sharlene was a student at the University of Omaha, where she met her husband, Milt, and joined the sorority Sigma Kappa. Sharlene and Milt eloped in July of 1956 and had a second formal ceremony and reception in September of 1956 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha. Sharlene was a coach’s wife during the 1960’s and 1970’s, and often attended football games and wrestling and track meets. She was seen as a “second mom” by many of the student athletes over the years.

Sharlene’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two sons, Mike and Craig. She adored them with her whole heart and always made them feel loved and cherished. She loved being a grandma and doted on her granddaughters whenever she could.

Sharlene loved connecting with people and spent much of her life involved in different activities and organizations. She was affectionately known as the “Coca-Cola Lady” during the 60’s and 70’s, because she handed out samples of Coke products at the grocery stores around Omaha. She loved chatting with people and spreading a bit of joy through her interactions. Sharlene was a 3-time brown belt in Judo and gave demonstrations around town. She was an avid bowler, bowling on up to 3 teams at a time, and called Maplewood Lanes “home.” Sharlene enjoyed traveling to bowling tournaments all over the US, received many awards for her involvement in the Greater Omaha Women’s Bowling Association. She also enjoyed attending breweriana shows with her son Mike. Together they would buy and sell brewery advertising and beer cans from all over the world. Sharlene treasured the friendships she curated at these shows. Lastly, Sharlene was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Benson where she enjoyed being part of her church family.

Sharlene was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Milton Hearn, and her parents, Ray and Rose. She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Craig Hearn, along with two granddaughters, Natalie (Travis Chandler) and Hilary Hearn.

Sharlene’s legacy will live on through her family, friends, neighbors, and people she touched
