PEER, Sandy L.
March 18, 1959 ~ November 25, 2024
In loving memory of Sandy Peer and her courageous life.
To call her an incredible human being would be an absolute understatement. A devoted wife, mother of two, grandmother of three, and sibling to four, she was attuned to putting the needs of others above her own, consistently supporting her children and their many activities and interests without fail, while always making time to provide a variety of support to those she cared about near and far.
She was the glue that held us all together. From her father Ken, she inherited a stoic, calm and effectively patient approach. But from her mother Pat, a quick and voracious defense of the interests of those she loved, when necessary. She was as often the brightest part of the room as she was the unseen calming presence.
Without warning, on December 29th, 2011, at the age of 52, she suffered a significant stroke leaving her near-death and subsequently was entirely dependent upon others to survive. At the time, some began grieving what was felt to be her inevitable death, but she refused to quit and miraculously survived. Despite losing all imaginable independence with basic living activities, she persisted forward with the help of her family for 13 more years.
Her unrelenting resilience and embodiment of hope afforded her exceedingly difficult living quality for so much longer than one should endure, and her newfound peace is hard-earned and well-deserved. May she now live on through her children and theirs, as they will continue to carry her with them forever and always.
To her two sons, she was their first true love and a tried-and-true guiding light.
To her husband, she was the keel to steady the ship through rough waters and the anchor of eternal love.
To her siblings and all others that held her close, she was a reliable shoulder to lean on, a partner in crime, and a lifelong compassionate friend.
Sandy is survived by her husband Jay; sons: Jerad and Justin Peer; grandchildren: Layla, Joanna, Camden; siblings: Vicky (Mike) Swearingen, Debi Krosko, John (Julie) Krosko, Joe (Darla) Krosko; many other relatives and friends.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 5-7:00pm at Braman Mortuary (Millard Chapel)
“To lose a brother is to lose someone with whom you can share the experience of growing old, who is supposed to bring you a sister-in-law and nieces and nephews, creatures who people the tree of your life and give it new branches. To lose your father is to lose the one whose guidance and help you seek, who supports you like a tree trunk supports its branches. To lose your mother, well, that is like losing the sun above you. It is like losing--I'm sorry, I would rather not go on.”
