Samuel Owen Schramm

April 30, 1965 — February 9, 2025

Samuel Owen Schramm
April 30,1965 to February 9, 2025

Sam was born April 30, 1965 in Omaha Nebraska. He was the 8th boy and 9th child. Preceded in death by father, Donald Schramm, brothers Patrick and Michael and sister Jana Dunn. Survived by wife, Donna Schramm, mother, Patricia Schramm and brothers Doug (Joan), Rock, David (Vicki), Kurt (Diane), Pete and Bart (Teresa) Schramm and many nieces and nephews.

He attended Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and Paul VI High School in Omaha, Nebraska.

His journey from a kid was passionate about sports; his love for baseball and football was especially notable. Playing both at a high level, whether it was Little League, All-Star games, or high school, shows how dedicated he was to his interests.

At Paul VI, he played both offense and defense in football. With the small school atmosphere this built his versatility and team spirit, something that carried over into his adult life. His loyalty to the Nebraska Cornhuskers today is a great example of how sports can shape long-lasting connections and love for a team or place.

His relationship with his grandpa Schramm from Marysville, KS was also very special. Those fishing trips together with his older brothers and grandpa not only created cherished memories but also built a strong bond between them. He loved to fish the Big Blue River and Tuttle Creek. Occasionally he was told he was “too little” to go fishing with the older boys, but that did not stop him from trying to go each time they were getting ready to go.

He also found the love and enjoyment of bowling, following in the footsteps of his parents. He continued to bowl throughout his life and at times bowling in two leagues at the same time. His perfect game of 300 eluded him by just one pin.

His work ethic is evident too. His willingness to take on part-time jobs during high school and then jumping into a full-time trade showed how he valued responsibility and creating stability for himself and family. His progression at Meehan Drywall – from laborer to a union carpenter – demonstrated his hard work and dedication.

In 1986, he met his wife, Donna, at Meehan Drywall where they were both employed. They married on April 16, 1987. Sam and Donna cherished their life together whether doing chores around the house, camping, fishing or hiking the National Parks, or doing something adventurous.

Sam’s other hobbies were pheasant, turkey and deer hunting. The care he gave to his four German Shorthaired Pointers – Zebo, Flash, Jayme and Dude- speaks to his nurturing side. They were great companions during his hunting trips. These dogs weren’t just pets: they were part of his life’s adventures, especially when hunting, a hobby he clearly enjoyed deeply.

He had a strong work ethic, a deep love for sports and a true love for his family. He was a dedicated and caring person, always looking out for the people he loved and making sure everyone was well taken care of. Sam maintained his own house along with his mothers and mother-in-law and was always there if any of the nieces or nephews needed anything.

He will truly be missed.
