MITCHELL, Russell G. 2/22/1939 – 9/27/2019 Age 80, of Omaha Born in Emmetsburg, Iowa 1939. On March 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska, Russ met his future wife Jan on a blind date. They married on June 24, 1961. Russ entered the army November of 1961. He worked at Swift & Company for 30 years and at Oriental Trading Company for 10 years. His hobbies included gardening, watching Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Christian Encounters Christ. He loved his family and friends, especially his prayer group and sharing group. Survived by: wife, Janet (Wiehn) Mitchell, sons, Gene Mitchell, Curt Mitchell (Pam) Dan Mitchell (Michele) daughter, Kathy Gaddie (Bob) eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, brothers, Delbert Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, sister, Joy Carpenter, sister in laws, Jennifer Mitchell and Rita Mitchell. Preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Cora Mitchell, brothers, Clinton Mitchell and Loral Mitchell. Visitation: Tuesday, October 1, from 5-7 pm with a rosary at 7 pm, at Braman Mortuary Southwest Chapel, 6505 S 144th St., Omaha, NE. Funeral Mass: Wednesday, October 2, at 10:30 am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, with a funeral luncheon to follow the service.
