Lesac, Rudolph E. Sr. April 13, 1931 - February 10, 2022 Rudy was the youngest and third child born to Anton and Mary Lesac. He grew up speaking the Croatian language and liked to tell people he was 100% Croatian. He was a South Omaha Boy who knew small engine repair backwards and forwards. As a child of the Great Depression, he was a firm believer in recycling and helped to keep the roads picked up!! He enjoyed listening to polka music on Sundays, keeping a few animals around, and especially talking to people. He was always looking to make a connection to people by wanting to know more about them. He served in the Korean War and was very proud to be a veteran. In 1955, he married Joan and this April, they would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. After raising 4 kids, Joan and Rudy moved to their dream home on a small acreage where Rudy could have a barn to visit with his friends and enjoy a more rural type of life. He always had a garden that got small as he got older. He stocked pop or candy or ice cream bars down at the barn to give to the children and grandchildren of his visitors, always making sure there was enough for everyone. Rudy loved to give little gifts to all he knew. He could be found telling the same jokes, even when he didn’t always get the punch line right. He started his working life as a farm helper, then worked at O’Neill Packinghouse, then as a bartender after the packinghouse closed, and finally as a concrete truck drive until his retirement. Rudy truly lived a full life and many will miss him. They broke the mold after they made him. May you rest in peace, Rudy, until we all meet again.
