Ronald Tatreau

July 1, 1953 — November 30, 2019

Tatreau, Ronald J. 7/1/1953-11/30/2019 Ron Tatreau was born on July 1, 1953 in Omaha, NE to Frank and Catherine “Pearl” Tatreau (Needels). He grew up in Omaha and went to Westside High School (class of ‘71).He married Donna Cushenbery on May 29, 1976 and they had 2 daughters, Melissa and Becky.Ron was preceded in death by parents Frank and Pearl Tatreau and beloved fur babies, “Nicko and Sissy.”He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Donna; daughters Melissa Holtmeier (Chris) and Rebecca King (Alan), both of Omaha; grandchildren Ella Joy (8 ½) and Alan Michael (6 ½); brother John Tatreau of North Carolina and sister Sharon Gardner (Earl) of Colorado; and many other family and friends. Ron and Donna met at UNO through Greek life.He saw her and said, “I’m going to marry that girl.”His daughters got a kick out of seeing the yearbook photos of Dad as a UNO cheerleader.Ron earned his BA degree in 1976.He worked at the Frito-Lay Distribution Center as Operations Manager and took early retirement after 30 years. He always loved cars, so in addition to Frito, he worked part-time at Advanced Auto Parts for more than 20 years and most recently at the Baxter parts department. His garage looks like a parts store and he was always glad to serve his girls with oil changes and any car questions. Ron volunteered at Lakeside Hospital, the Pinnacle Golf annual tournament, Habitat for Humanity, and was a regular donor at the American Red Cross (132nd + Dodge).Ron had a fantastic voice that he shared not only in the car and the shower, but at Westside High School, the UNO swing and operetta choirs, a barbershop quartet and at Harvey Oaks Baptist, Community Covenant and Divine Shepherd churches. At the end of his life, the simple things brought him joy: cuddling new Siberian kittens Maksim, Thomasina and Anastasia, sitting in the sun, and spending time with his girls. He got to see grandson Alan bowl his 1st 100+ game and watch granddaughter Ella jump horses at lessons. He also passed time watching sports and history channels from his recliner with a Dr. Pepper close by.Ron was a loyal and devoted son, brother, husband, daddy and friend. He was the provider, protector and “biggest fan” of his wife, girls and grandkids. His support and sense of humor will be missed terribly.
