SASGES, Ronald G. “Ron” 10/26/1945 – 2/24/2020 Age 74 years of Omaha Ron Sasges was born on October 26th 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska to Ralph Sasges and Mary (McLean). He was their first child of four: Sister Janice (Max) Kurz; Brothers: Larry and Duane (Marcie). He graduated from Pratt High School in 1965. On December 25, 1964, he became a father to daughter Jamie, who was adopted by Ken and Nancy Smith. Jamie grew up near Denver, Colorado. In March of 1966, Ron enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served as an MP at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After serving in the US Marine Corps, Ron returned to Omaha and worked briefly as an Apprentice Electrician with his father before beginning his life long career as an Auto Mechanic. In 1970, with a little help from his best friend and wingman Mike Howard, he met Rockie Young. They married in October of 1970. Ron and Rockie made their home in Ponca Hills, Nebraska were they welcomed daughter Michelle on May 1, 1971. Ron was super proud of his grandsons the twins Nick and Alex who are also following the Auto Mechanics career path. Granddaughter Tori and great granddaughter Amelia were both the light of his life. Ron met the love of his life Bets Yale and they started dating in 2001 and were married in 2006. Through this union the family grew to include Bets’ daughter Michelle Reily and her sons Max and Aaron, and grandson Rowan; daughter Carey Yale and her sons Alexander, Allen and Evan. They have enjoyed many vacations fishing in Minnesota, cabin life in Kansas and Arkansas and many other great family adventures. Ron enjoyed cars, Cars, CARS. Building classic cars was his passion. He also enjoyed watching the wildlife from their new edition, shooting guns, hunting, fishing and making camp fires. Ron was a great baker and was famous for his homemade rolls, cheesecakes and cookies. And lets not forget Ron loved smoking…. Turkeys, ribs, pork chops he was smoking it. But most of all Ron loved smoking tires! Ron touched many lives with his open heart and FIERCE LOVE. He will be missed but not forgotten. Even in death, he continues to help others by being an organ donor. The number of peoples lives Ron has impacted throughout the years is evident in the overwhelming support we have received. Thank you for the prayers and comforting words during this difficult time - Bets, Jamie, Michelle, Michelle and Carey Gathering of Family and Friends: Saturday February 29, 2020 at 4:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Ron’s Life Service at 5:00 pm, at Braman Mortuary (Northwest Chapel). Interment of ashes will take place at a later date at the Omaha National Cemetery.
