Ronald George Gibson passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ron was 80 years old and born in Des Moines, Iowa, on October 17, 1940. Ron was preceded in death by his father George Gibson, mother Mary Kathryn (Gettys) Gibson, brother Allen William Gibson, and daughter Diana Lynn (Gibson) Buscher. Ron is survived by loving family and friends. Ron’s lifelong passion for cars led him to Bonneville Speedway at the Bonneville Salt Flats, starting in 1976. He continued this passion with his son, Scott Gibson, (Cheyenne, WY) in 1992 through Ron’s passing last Thursday. His daughter, Angel (Gibson) Poole, (Council Bluffs, IA) always enjoyed spending time with her dad on week-end trips home from college. After moving back to the area in 2001, Ron loved to visit and work on small home projects with her. As a memorial, anyone wishing to honor Ron Gibson is invited to make a contribution to his grandson’s college funds via Angel Poole. Ron started these college funds for Cameron Gibson, (Greeley, CO); Kellen Poole and Grayson Poole, (Council Bluffs, IA) through Nest 529, which was a great surprise these grandsons recently learned was started by Grandpa Ron.
