Rodger Lea Seavey, age 85, died peacefully at his home in Omaha, NE on February 18, 2018.He was born on December 7, 1932 in Austin, MN.He married Elaine Koski on September 15, 1951, a marriage that lasted 65 years. Rodger wore many hats during his life—he was a successful businessman, rancher, boat captain, fisherman, and RV traveler. He retired in 1979, and his many adventures are recorded in five books written by Elaine, The Maverick Series. Together they explored North America, visited historical sites, and caught countless fish. He is survived by his sister, Karen (Ralph) Edin of Grand Rapids, MN, three of his children: Valerie (Jason) Saeler of Tucson, AZ, Bradley Seavey of Lufkin, TX, Pamela (Richard) Ellinghuysen of Omaha, NE; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, his parents Roland and Marjorie, his brother Richard, and one son Daniel. Family and friends will be notified of a graveside memorial service that will be held this spring at Lansing Cemetery near Austin, Minnesota. Memorials will go to the Lansing Cemetery Association. Rodger’s family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice, CareMinders, Comper Care & Rehab, Walnut Grove Retirement Community, Heritage at Legacy, Braman Mortuary, and Living Hope Church, all of Omaha, Nebraska.
