Robert Gene Fedderson

November 22, 1941 — January 25, 2025

Robert G. FeddersonNovember 22, 1941—January 25th, 2025The family of Robert G. Fedderson “Bob” is sad to announce that Bob passed away in his home with his family beside him on 1/25/2025 after a bout with an aggressive and rare cancer. Bob fought like hell because he, in his words, was “tougher than boiled owl”. We are glad that he is finally at peace.Robert was born in Lexington, NE and grew up working on local farms. He joined the Navy as a Corpsman and served on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. After his discharge, he began a career with Paulsen’s Building and Supply and under his oversight, the Dawson County Law Enforcement Center, the Lexington State Bank, the Cozad Community Wellness Center and countless other amazing buildings came to be. If you’ve stopped at a rest area on I-80 in Nebraska, there’s a good chance Bob built it.He was amazing with his hands, like MacGyver with a hammer. He could make something out of nothing and was famous for his homemade gifts. He indulged his wife and children with his ingenuity; if you could dream it up, he could build it. He created anything, from a definitely not street legal go cart powered by a lawn mower engine to personalized TV remote control holders for his easy chair. The custom cat tree he made over 25 years ago still stands for the next generation of felines, even though he was allergic to cats. In his retirement years, he became a wood carver and kept up with all the Honey-Dos that his wife and kids could ask for. He would tell us, “I’ve been doing so much, with so little, for so long” when asked how he could bring whatever we asked for into reality.Bob loved to fish, to talk, and to mow the lawn on his John Deere riding mower custom outfitted with a Mack truck hood ornament. He had a green thumb, growing spring tulips and summer vegetables. Every year his cucumber vines engulfed the patio like an invasive weed. He was at heart a cowboy and loved to watch old westerns and read Louis L’amour books. He passed on his sense of humor and his dogged determination to his children. He might have taken the love of mowing with him.Bob was married to the love of his life, Carol (Hulinsky), for 61 years. They were scheduled to go on a double date with friends—but when Bob met Carol, he convinced her to swap her date for him. Together they worked an acreage, built homes, and raised kids and grandkids while cutting a rug during polka dances across Nebraska.Bob touched the lives of so many people. He was a friend to everyone, a set of extra hands if anyone needed them, and was always up for a good conversation with family, friends, and neighbors.Bob is survived by his wife, son Rick Fedderson of Rapid City, South Dakota, daughter Chris and son-in-law Tim Meier, daughter Julie and son-in-law Timothy Watts. He has 4 grandchildren, Drew Meier (Jess-fiance), Nate Meier (Kailey), Cody Watts, and Austin Watts. Other family includes his brother Stan Feddersen (Sherrie), brother Mike Feddersen (Marian), brother-in-law Dennis Hulinsky, sister-in-law Lucille Conner (Elwin), and brother-in-law Ronnie Hulinsky (JoAnn).

A Celebration of Life Event for Bob will be held on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 from 5-10pm at the American Legion in Papillion, NE at 230 West Lincoln Street.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to daughter Julie at 402-672-8248 so we can estimate for drink/food.
