CARY, Rita Lynn 4/4/1955 – 2/5/2020 Age 64 years of Omaha Rita Lynn Cary was born on April 4, 1955 in Centerville, Iowa to O.W. and Betty Cary.She was their only child. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1973 and then attended the Iowa School of Beauty in Ottumwa, Iowa and graduated in 1975.On April 19, 1975 she married her high school sweetheart, Christopher Mattingly.Out of this 23-year union, three daughters were born:Lysandra Echo in 1976; Cassandra Cary in 1981 and Crysandra Amber in 1984. Rita and Chris made their home in Hartford, Iowa where they raised their 3 daughters from 1979 to 1992 before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in August of 1992. Rita and Chris were divorced in 1996. Rita continued to live in Omaha near her 3 daughters and their families for her remaining 27 years of life. After being a homemaker and an avid volunteer with Girl Scouts, the Community United Presbyterian Church as a Secretary and youth group leader in Hartford, IA while her daughters were young, Rita returned to the workforce in West Des Moines, IA and then Omaha, NE where she was employed in business, finance and customer service. Rita enjoyed reading, gardening, ceramics, sewing, fashion & shopping, music and laughing with friends. She was always known to have a listening ear and a caring heart for many people including her daughters’ friends, her neighbors, co-workers, and even strangers.But more than anything she loved spending time with her 3 daughters; 4 grandchildren (Lauren, Brady, Evan and Tristan), and her longtime significant other of 23 years, Danny Fitzgerald.Rita and Danny enjoyed traveling; attending music concerts and watching sporting events to include the College World Series and Nebraska Cornhusker Football games. Rita has touched many lives with her open heart, contagious laugh, twinkling eyes and infectious smile.She will be missed but not forgotten.Even in death, she continues to help others by being an organ & tissue donor. Rita is survived by her longtime companion Danny Fitzgerald; Daughters: Echo Mattingly, Cary (Jason) Kirke, Amber (Steven) Tesch; Grandchildren: Lauren, Brady, Evan, Tristan. Gathering of Family and Friends: Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 from 4:00-6:00pm, with a Celebration of Life service at 5:00pm, All at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel). Internment of ashes will take place in the spring at the Jerome, Iowa cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
