Richard Stamps, age 60, of Omaha, NE, died February 27, 2009 in Balad, Iraq of natural causes. Richard was born July 20, 1948 in North Platte, Nebraska. He was the eldest of four children to be raised in Lexington, NE. Richard graduated with a Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Richard and Elaine Rutz were married in 1968 and two children were born to this union, Robert and Michelle. Richard was married in 1982 to Vicki Hansen Keegan and one child was born to this union, Chad. He warmly welcomed Vicki’s two sons, Lonny and Corey, as his own. Richard retired from a career in the Air Force in 1996 after 24 years of service. Following his retirement he worked for Raytheon, Inc and worked in Iraq for periods of time during the last three years. Richard is survived by his mother, Doris (Farris) Stamps of Lexington, NE. Three children: son, Robert Stamps and wife Julie, Omaha, NE; daughter, Michelle Stamps, Omaha, NE; and son, Chad Stamps, Pensacola, FL. Two stepsons: Lonnie Keegan, Omaha and Cory Keegan and wife Kimber, Henderson, NV. Six grandchildren; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Stamps, Lexington, NE and Mark Stamps and wife Melissa, Lincoln, NE; and sister Linda Brogan and husband, Charles, Lincoln, NE. Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, William. Friends may call to pay their respects and support the family at a viewing on Friday, 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m at Braman Mortuary, 6505 South 144th St, Omaha, Nebraska. The funeral will be held, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. Internment will be in Homer, NE
