Richard Harold Johns, 72, of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully at home on October 27th, 2023.

Services for Richard will be held at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 16701 S Street, Omaha, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Monday, November 6th, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary service to follow. Funeral will be on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Richard will be interned at Resurrection Cemetery in a private family service.

Richard was born in Nebraska City on June 20th, 1951. He graduated from Ralston High School in 1970. Richard earned an associate degree in business. Richard spent his career in management, first at Albertson’s grocery store then at Miller Brands of Omaha, where he was the Operations Manager. Richard retired from Miller Brands of Omaha in 2011.

On October 10th, 1975, Richard wed Mary at St. Gerald’s Catholic Church. They just celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary. Richard owned his own business the first several years of their marriage. They moved to a farm house in Bennington, Nebraska in 1981. Later that year, they adopted their daughter Becky. In January 1985, they moved to Omaha. Richard and Mary adopted Stephanie in June of that year. They lived in their home for 35 years, before moving into a villa community in February of 2020.

Richard and his family joined St. Stephen the Martyr Church when the parish was being founded in 1989. Richard was very active in the Knights of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight. Richard stayed active in pancake feeds, fish fry’s, and many other Knight’s events and community outreach programs. He was proud to become a 4th Degree Knight in recent years.

Richard was family oriented. He enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Brandon. He loved spending time watching his granddaughter, Michaela, play soccer and his grandson, Alex, play baseball. Richard loved to play Pitch, and win beating his nieces and nephews. Richard loved cheering for Creighton basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Dorothea (Winter) Johns, and brother, David Johns. He is survived by wife, Mary (Beha), daughters Becky Johns Moore and Stephanie Johns, grandchildren Brandon, Michaela, and Alexander Moore. Sister Carolyn (Clint) Walker, brother Ronald (Alane) Johns, and sister-in-law Terri Johns (Marty Hochstetler), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Richard’s name to the Knights of Columbus 10160 to support the many numerous community outreach programs that he was passionate about.
