Richard H. Chizek

June 5, 1931 — November 6, 2022

Let’s put it this way... Richard “Dick” Henry Chizek was born on June 5, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska to Henry and Catherine Chizek. He was raised with his younger brother and sister, Gerald and Sandra, in South Omaha. He attended Holy Name High School where he had an illustrious football career. He was team captain and set many records. Dick was also voted homecoming king. After high school he joined the Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic. He served in the Air Force from 1951-1955. When he returned home he was hired by United Airlines where he worked until his retirement in 1996. Dick met the love of his life Lucille Gurciullo at Peony Park. They were married on April 14, 1956 at St Patrick Church in Omaha. In his free time Dick and Lou enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Hawaii, Alaska and Italy. His love of horse racing was shared with his father at AKSARBEN and then Horseman’s Park. Dick loved playing cards with friends and he was an avid Husker football fan. Lou and Dick traveled to several bowl games to cheer on the Huskers. He enjoyed going to the weekly Sons of Italy luncheon to catch up with friends and family. He regularly attended mass at St. Joseph Church. He was a great role model to his family. If there was a milestone in their lives he was always there to show his support.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Catherine, his beloved wife Lucille, brother Gerald, several in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his sister Sandra Davis, in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Let’s put it this way, he will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family that were blessed to have him in their lives.
