Rena M. Merchant, age 70, passed away November 4, 2019 in Omaha, NE. Rena was born to Frank and Rachel LaScala in Sioux City, Iowa on August 8, 1949. She enjoyed quilting, making scarves, Iowa football and watching movies. Rena is preceded in death by her father Frank and sister Patty. She leaves behind her husband of almost 51 years, Frank Merchant; mother, Rachel LaScala; children: Dennis (Trish) Merchant, Brian Merchant, Shelley (Greg) Shafer; siblings, Bob LaScala, Frank LaScala, Carla Ellis; grandchildren, Hope, Nick, Jared, Brendan, Hali, Blayne, Nate and Emily. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Rena's name to Special Olympics Nebraska.
