Wieger, Reita C. (Lang)
April 18, 1936 – February 17, 2023
Reita was born in Omaha, NE to Philip and Amelia Lang and her childhood was spent in the Benson area with her sister Rosemary and brothers Eddie and Phil (Rudy). They lived on an acreage along Maple and 76th Street. She often talked about how much fun she had growing up there as there were many things to do with her brothers and sister. She would often go with her father to the Old Market to the Monaco fruit stand to sell their fruit and vegetables from the acreage.
She went to Adams Elementary School where just last year she visited and they happened to be having their open house. She proudly proclaimed that she was a student there a long time ago and was asked many questions by the kids and staff about what it was like back then. Reita went to high school at Benson where she participated in Band.
She met the love of her life when a young man named Chuck (Andy) Wieger captured her heart. They had seven children and were married for 59 years before Andy passed away in 2017. She and Andy owned Andy’s Bar in Millard for many years where they met their close friends “The Corporation”. She loved trips to Branson with them along with hanging out at the lake, camping and fishing with her family at the Omaha Fish and Wildlife Club, and most of all, attending any and all family gatherings and events. She also was an avid Tom Brady fan making sure to wear his jersey on game day.
Reita was a sharp card player, excelling in Pitch and Pinochle or any new game that came along. She got her nickname “The Queen of Hearts” not only due to her card playing skills, but because she had a heart of gold. Reita’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She was a long-time parishioner at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Millard.
