Briggs, Rebecca E. "Becky"

8/13/1940 - 7/6/2024

Rebecca "Becky" Elaine Briggs passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024 at the age of 83.

Becky was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1940 to Marie (Robinson) and Lloyd Hawks in St Joseph MO.

Becky had six siblings, three brothers, John, Barton, and Merrett (Skipper), and three sisters, Geraldine, Norma and Evelyn.

Becky attended school in St Joseph MO. At a young age she moved to Omaha where she met and married Richard Paulsen. They set up a homestead near Murdock NE where they had twelve children.

Becky worked as a waitress, laborer for a pallet company, custodian at UNL, and retired as a truck driver.

Becky was bigger than life, never met a stranger, and boldly spoke her mind. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, cooking, crafts and socializing. She was always an advocate for the less fortunate and willing to offer a hand or “pick me up”.

Becky was a Beloved Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, and friend. She left us with a lifetime of memories, love, and laughter.

Becky is preceded in death by son James Michael Paulsen, former husband Richard Paulsen, Verne Briggs and special friend Robert “Bob” McGranaghan.

Becky is survived by her cherished children Nicole L Greiman, David M (Christine) Paulsen, Candace A (Shad) Polfus, Bridgette J (Bob) Miller, Julia D (Casey) Brennan, Laurena M Laughlin, Jacquelene D (Jim) Wagner, Brian D (Jody) Paulsen, Theresa A (Chris) Beltz, Michelle E (Bill) West, Patrick J Paulsen along with thirty grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

We will carry you in our hearts until there are no more days left to us.

A special thank you to the staff at Hillcrest Firethorn, where Becky was loved and adored during her final months.
