HORKY, Raymond Anton “Ray” 4/5/1930 – 6/7/2017 Age 87 years of Omaha Raymond Anton Horky was born April 5, 1930 in Crete, Nebraska. He was raised on the farm at Horky’s Park in Crete with sister Maryann and brother Gene. He graduated from Crete High School. He entered the Air Force in January, 1951 and separated January, 1955 as S/S GT. He was in the 1607th Air Transport Wing servicing B-29’s. He trained in Texas and spent the majority of his time in Hawaii. He attended Milford Tech completing the diesel mechanic course. He met Margie Smejkal in Crete and they married in 1961. They moved to Loveland, CO where Ken was born in 1962. They moved to Omaha, NE in 1963 and in 1966, Patty was born. He started as a diesel mechanic with Detroit Diesel Allison working his way up to branch manager. He was fortunate to be able to return to Hawaii with Margie for two years as a branch manager.He enjoyed working in his later years at Faith Westwood United Methodist Church in charge of building maintenance. Ray was a lifetime member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He helped in many ways, such as maintenance and ushering. He loved gardening, wood working and being a general fix it man around the house. He loved his family and enjoyed the grandkids and great grandchildren. Family always came first and he always did what he had to do to take care of his children and wife. Ray was preceded in death by parents Anton Raymond & Ann Horky; He is survived by his Wife of 56 years, Margaret “Margie” Horky; Son Kenneth “Ken” Horky; Daughter Patricia “Patty” Kelch & husband Kevin; Grandchildren: Jesselyn, Brittney, Cody, Aidan; Great Grandchildren: Marcella, Sawyer, Charles; Sister Maryann Callies; Brother Eugene Horky & wife Lorene; Many other relatives & friends Funeral Mass: Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 10:30am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church (5801 Oak Hills Dr.) Visitation: Monday, 6-8:00pm, with a rosary at 7:30pm, all at Church Interment: Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Memorials to the Church Braman Mortuary - Southwest Chapel 6505 S. 144 St. Omaha, NE68137 402-895-3400
