Randy Fields

FIELDS, Randy
May 2, 1949 ~ October 26, 2024

Randy Fields, born in Ewen, Michigan, to parents Jack and Virginia Fields, passed peacefully at home in Omaha, Nebraska, surrounded by his family after battling cancer.

A proud Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, he would always stop and talk to other veterans about their experiences in the service.

Randy retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2009, allowing him the time to enjoy the simple pleasures of traveling and good food (especially sweets). He was an avid reader, but military history was his passion. Randy was a lover of life and a true people person. In his eyes, there was no such thing as a stranger. His ultimate love, pride, and joy came from his wife, Carol; their three children Nicholas (Liz) Fields, Brandi Fields, and Stephanie (Tyler) Roberts; and grandchildren Imogen, Oliver and Reid Fields, and Allison Roberts.

Survived by wife, children, grandchildren, and furbaby Sadie; sisters Dianne (George) Hardes, and Jacki (John) Carlson; sister-in-law Barbara (Mike) Bienias; and many nieces and nephews.

Randy will be interred at the Omaha National Cemetery on Friday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. following a military send-off.
