Rachel Bernedet (Jacobsen) Hult was born September 16, 1915, in Fessenden, North Dakota. She was the second of seven children born to Ragnvald Theobald and Ida Margaret (Zobel) Jacobsen. She attended Centerville Grade School, graduating from the eighth grade, which was the end of her formal education. She married Enoch Alexander Hult December 1, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Their children are Kathryn (Louis) Essen, Frances (John, Sr.) Hodges, and Robert Hult. They farmed the first six years of their marriage. Due to the depression they had a farm sale and moved to Omaha. Rachel worked at several jobs before being employed by Merchants Biscuit Company, where she worked for 15 years. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her outstanding cooking skills and kind nature. She was preceded in death by her husband, and son Duane Hult. Rachel is survived by her children, seven grandchildren, Jean (Paul) Blase, David (Bonnie) Essen, Brian (Lori) Essen, Cynthia (David) Schlorff, John (Janine) Hodges, Jr., Kent (Connie) Hodges, Sr., and Alexander (Elizabeth) Hult. 17 great-grandchildren, Melissa (Joshua) Gleghorn, Laura (Alan) Huesers, Aaron (Chandra) Blase, Christina (Spencer) Stednitz, Nicole (Nicholas) Charvat, Eric and Emily Essen, Cody and Luke Huebert, Rachel (Thaddeus) England, John (Katie) Hodges III, Stacy Hodges, Michael McClelland, Kent Hodges, Jr., Trisha (Logan) Hubka, Remington and Barrett Hult. 13 great-great-grandchildren, Dalton and Gemma Gleghorn, Allison, Randall, and Andrew Huesers, Olivia and Adyson Stednitz, Payton Charvat, Ruby England, Ethan and Emily Hodges, Ryan McClelland, Hunter Hubka, sister Vivian Williams, brothers Robert (Claire) Jacobsen and Melvin Jacobsen, sister-in-law Evelyn Jacobsen.
