Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Phyllis Jean Walton (Klocke) sadly passed away on Nov. 22 at the age of 84. Phyllis was born in her family home near Waterville, Kansas, on October 9, 1940. After graduating high school in Barnes, she attended nursing school in Topeka, Kansas, where she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Walton, who was serving in the Air Force at nearby Forbes Air Force Base. She and Bill were married June 10, 1961. After living in Illinois and Iowa, she and Bill, along with their three children, Kevin, Kent and Kelly, moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1975. In Omaha, she enjoyed a long career as a licensed practical nurse, a fitting career for a woman with such a deeply caring nature. Her and Bill were active members of Christ Community Church, where they supported a variety of ministries and mßade many close friends. Phyllis was an avid card player and participated in several bridge groups over the years. After retiring, her and Bill enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Wilma and Vernon Klocke and Bill. She is survived by their three children, her sisters Verna Dahlquist and Delphia Cook, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 11:00am Christ Community Church on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025
