Patricia Kay "Pat" Brown

Patricia Kay Brown (Pat) passed away on July 11, 2018.She will be remembered as an extremely loving, loyal, dedicated, fun loving and caring individual.She dedicated her life to helping special needs children both in her career and in her personal life.As a breast cancer survivor, Pat supported and volunteered with the My Sister’s Keeper organization. She will be remembered by a host of nieces and nephews as the “cool aunt”. Patricia Kay Brown was born to French L. and Dorothy R. Brown on July 15, 1960 in Omaha, NE.Pat attended Highland and Monmouth Park Elementary Schools, McMillan Junior High and graduated from Omaha Central High School June, 1978.Pat went on to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Omaha where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Pat began her career as a lifelong advocate for children with special needs. She worked for the Alpha School, Omaha, NE which is an alternative school for students with behavioral/emotional conditions who are unable to maintain traditional school placement.Over her 27 year career at the Alpha School, she had a range of responsibilities including Food Administrator, Intervention Specialist and Educational Program Specialist for children with emotional and behavioral needs.After Alpha School Pat’s career path took her into the foster care support services field with Visinet, Inc. and KVC Behavioral Health from 2003 to 2013. Pat married Calvin Samuel on November 27, 1992.To this union they were blessed in 1998 to be able to adopt twins LaRonn O. and LaVante C.After their union ended, Pat and Calvin remained friends and then Pat continued her career in foster care support services.After a long career of advocating for children with special needs Pat retired in 2013. Those who preceded her in death: her parents French L. and Dorothy R. Brown; and her sister Ruth Darlene Watson.She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons LaRonn and LaVante Samuel, her siblings Fred A. Brown, Jan Lodis Brown, Michael Brown of Omaha, NE.; Hubert W. Brown of Syracuse, NY; and Linda J. Brown of Nashville, TN.; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins,friends and extended family members. Patricia Kay Brown will be remembered as having a zest for life and an infectious personality that was endearing to all she met.We love you, forever in our hearts.
