Norma Jean Pohl (Pelan) passed away on October 5, 2018.Norma was born in Ulysses Nebraska on November 11, 1928 to Anton and Tillie (Hamsa) Pelan.She attended a rural elementary school and graduated from David City High School in 1945.Upon graduation, she taught school in Butler and Seward County.Norma married Ray Pohl in 1948 and lived in Columbus, Nebraska for several years. Norma & Ray moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1971 and she worked in the Morton Elementary School lunch program.In 2012, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be closer to family. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray, and brother Dennis Pelan.She is survived by her daughter Sue Merryfield (David) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and son Scott Pohl (Mary) of Omaha, Nebraska.Grandchildren Jessica Blanford (Adam) of Westminster, Colorado, Alex Merryfield (Stephanie) of Carmel, Indiana, Heather and Josh Pohl of Omaha, Nebraska.Great grandchildren Elias and Cora Blanford. Norma’s family would like to express their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice and the staff of Brookstone Meadows for their kindness and care of Norma. A Memorial Service, with Father Michael Houlihan officiating, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday October 12, 2018 at Braman Mortuary (Southwest Chapel).Interment will be private.
