Newton D Ramey

November 12, 1935 — March 17, 2024

Newton D. Ramey was born on November 12, 1935 in Kansas City, MO, to Dr. Starr and Edith Ramey. Newt grew up in KC where he graduated High School in 1953.
He was drafted into the US Army in 1954, was on active duty until 1956, and remained a reservist until 1961.

While serving in the Army he had the opportunity to travel to various places in Europe and loved telling stories about his many adventures there.

After leaving the military he moved to Arizona and became an over the road trucker, experiencing many more wild adventures.
He eventually ended up back in Kansas City and then moved to Omaha in 1968.

That is when he started his long career in sales!
He sold everything from insurance to Kirby vacuums, Encyclopedia Sets, Paint Rollers, Speed Reading Academy Memberships, among others.

Newt was selling insurance at American Family where he met his soulmate Jan, to whom he was married for 50 years. To this union were born 2 daughters, Sarah Lynn (1978) and Jennifer Ann (1979).

Eventually he started selling cars which he retired from at the age of 65.
Following retirement, he decided he missed being in sales, so he started working at Omaha Steaks and ended up becoming a member of the “Million Dollars in Sales Club”!

Faith was always a very important part of Newt's life. He was actively involved not only in his home church, but also served several years ministering to the homeless.

Newt enjoyed talking and witnessing to others as well as sharing his many amazing stories.
He also enjoyed fishing, reading, writing poetry, leatherwork, watching old movies, listening to music and always singing along.
Newt was also very passionate about his love for old cars. ESPECIALLY if they were Fords!

Newt was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Starr & Edith Ramey as well as his sister Mary Henry.

He is survived by his wife Jan Ramey, daughters Sarah Rogers (Javin), Jennifer Ramey, Lisa Sanborn and son Sean Sanborn. Grandchildren Myca Ramey, Cameron Ramey, Starr Rogers, Marcus Ramey, JT Rogers, Macy Rogers, Nick Jarvis and Cody Sanborn. Great Grandchildren Donovan Ramey and Aurora Ramey. As well as many other family members and friends.
